We ARE Levelland: A Vision and Values Meeting- Creating a Vision for the future of Levelland ISD and determining the Values that will guide future Levelland ISD facility decisions is set for June 4, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in the Founder's Room at South Plains College.

Community members are asked to join this community lead facilities team as they discuss the vision for Levelland ISD and the future of education in the Levelland community.  This team will also discuss the values that will help guide future decisions on educational facilities in Levelland.

"We want the citizens of Levelland to be involved in the future of Levelland ISD school facilities.  It's important that we understand the needs of our community and how we can, as a team of passionate Lobo supporters,  help the school board make decisions that are best for the entire community.  We ask that parents, grandparents, business owners and those that love Levelland be a part of shaping the future of education in Levelland," says Kimbra Quinn, Chairman of the "We ARE Levelland" Team.

We ARE Levelland is a group of Levelland citizens who are proud to live in Levelland, are advocates for the children of Levelland and want to make sure the community gets answers to questions being asked about the future of Levelland ISD facilities.  Realizing that the time to invest in future is now, this team is committed to creating a vision for Levelland ISD shared by the entire community of Levelland.

Albert Einstein once said, "The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing."  Don't miss this opportunity to voice your opinion and/or concerns, get answers to questions you may have concerning a possible bond election, and get the facts about current Levelland ISD facilities.

Where have I been! I haven't heard of the organization "We are Levelland". What a nice surprise! I would love to make the meeting, but I can't because of my husband's illness. I hope I can hear of the meeting through this site.

I am so glad that Levelland is trying hard to go green. I recently called about the "loan-a-trailer" program in hopes of being able to get trees and shrubs on my property taken to the transfer station, but was told as a Hockley County resident, the loan a trailer doesn't apply to me, just actual citizens of Levelland. I was disappointed because I thought it was Levelland/Hockley County Transfer Station. Doesn't my county property taxes not help pay for the transfer station too?

Ms. Wells, First thank you for reading our blog. In answer to your post the City of Levelland currently funds the activities at the transfer station. Hockley County residents are allowed to utilize the facility, but operations are paid for by the City of Levelland. The Drop-A-Trailer program is administered by the city as well and unfortunately only available to residents inside the city limits. You could contact your County Commissioner to see if they would consider partnering with the city on a similar program. Thanks again for taking the time to read and comment on our blog.
